"City of Gardens" yes that's Bangalore. When I first shifted to Bangalore, I was staying in Indira Nagar. That time I din't know that I am staying in some area which is surrounded by lot of parks. I visited almost all the parks in surrounding during my 3 years stay.
Then like many others, I decided to buy my own house. I wanted to buy something in Indira Nagar but my bank balance was laughing at me. Then I bought my dream home in Whitefield. I did all research about my house but didn't search for parks around. I was sure "City of Gardens" will have lot of parks. But later I came to know that InnerCircle is the only park. After staying here for 1.5 years, One morning Srinivas Reddy told me that there is one very good park in Nallurhalli with 100 years old Banyan tree and greenery. Somehow I was not ready to believe but we thought "Let's see".
Wow!!! was the first word from all Nallurhalli Rising team. We couldn't believe that we have such a nice park around. Lot of Banyan trees, benches, jogging track, greenery, fencing and temples, what else you want in a good park?
But to my surprise, this was totally abandoned. Grasses were never trimmed, wild plants were hiding broken benches. Beer bottles in park and few people sleeping on benches. We immediately decided that Nallurhalli Rising will change it. We don't follow water fall, yes we are agile. We don't do big planning. On next Saturday we decided small strategic cleaning event. We mainly assembled there to plan big spot fix but around 15 of us did basic clean-up.
Then next Saturday. That day was not normal spot-fix day, it was not cleaning event, it was not Modi's Swacch Bharat, it was fair. Techies, villagers, labors, BBMP, builders, politicians, kids, ladies all reached park at 6:00 AM. This was biggest cleaning event I have ever attended. Around 100 people participated and we cleaned most of the park and painted all the benches. Cleaning/painting finished at 1:00 PM. Dream of NallurhalliRising team is to inaugurate the park on 15th Aug.
